On Friday 19th October I visited the Troop Aid Head Quarters in Shirley, Birmingham. I was delighted to hand over a Cheque of £400 to the Charity’s Secretary Pam Sutton. The donation was made from the sale of poppy badges from this website as well as events I have attended during 2018.
This charity receives no support from the RBL or Help For Heroes. This was very sad to hear as Troop Aid are set up to do the same thing, which was to help our troops! I was introduced to Troop Aid volunteers who put together Troop Aid Grab Bags that are then handed to injured service personnel in over 27 locations worldwide.
When service personnel are injured either in training exercise or combat operations they are admitted to hospital without any of their personal effects or clothing. These Grab Bags Like the one myself and Pam are holding, enable wounded servicemen and women to walk off the plane or arrive at a hospital bed with dignity at a time of personal crisis. Additional tracksuits, hoodies, fleeces and trainers are also supplied on demand.
